What is the difference between an IREPS e-tender and an e-auction?

An e-tender invites sealed technical and price bids for works, goods or services. An e-auction is an online auction, commonly used to sell materials such as scrap or to run competitive price discovery.

Can small businesses bid on Indian Railways tenders?

Yes. Udyam-registered Micro and Small Enterprises benefit from procurement targets and, generally, exemptions on bid security and tender fees under the Public Procurement Policy for MSEs, 2012.

Do I need to be an approved vendor for every railway item?

No, but for safety-critical and specialised items the tender may restrict bidding to approved sources. The tender document states the requirement.

Where can I find railway tender results?

Evaluation outcomes and award details are published against the tender number on the issuing unit's listing on IREPS.

How do I find railway tenders for my zone or location?

Filter by zone, division or department on IREPS, or use Bidzen's location and category search to see only railway tenders that match your service area.

Can AI help me decide whether to bid on a railway tender?

Yes. Bidzen's AI Go/No-Go Decision scores a tender against your eligibility, capacity and past wins, and every input is clause-cited back to the tender document.

Buyer Guide

How Railway Tenders Work

Indian Railways buys works (track, bridges, buildings, electrification), goods and stores (spares, materials, rolling-stock components) and services (housekeeping, catering, maintenance). IREPS carries these through its e-tendering module, and its e-auction module handles sales such as scrap disposal. Each tender is issued by a specific railway unit, so eligibility, bid security and required documents differ from one notice to the next. Always work from the tender document, not from the portal summary.

MSE (Udyam) Preference in Railway Tenders

Under the Public Procurement Policy for MSEs, 2012, central government bodies including the Railways are expected to source at least 25% of annual procurement from Micro and Small Enterprises, with sub-targets of 4% for SC/ST-owned and 3% for women-owned MSEs. Udyam-registered MSEs are generally exempt from bid security and tender fees on eligible tenders, and may be offered the L1 price-matching opportunity within the policy's price band. Keep your Udyam certificate ready to upload with the technical bid.
